Best Wax for Decal Stripes on 2010 Camaro SS

I bought a 2010 Camaro SS last fall and the dealer told me to never wax over the flat black stripes (decals) so I haven’t. With your expertise in auto detailing can you recommend what type of wax I should use to keep my car looking great without damaging the flat black decals on the hood and trunk?

Best wax for 2010 Camaro SS decal stripes

Gary- Traditional decal stripes are not problematic as they are glossy in nature and wax does not absorb into these. The decal stripes on the Camaro SS are of the non-glossy, or satin finish. Traditional waxes will cause these stripes to discolor over time due to the residual wax turning white over time as it dries. You need to find a wax that is labeled as safe for black trim pieces.

I am especially fond of the following: Meguiar's Ultimate Spray Wax, System One spray wax, or CSI-Q-7 spray Wax. Any of these will provide you with great results. If you want ultimate protection, you need to apply some form of polymer based product like Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax. Simply tape off these decals with blue painters tape to protect from these other forms of wax products.

These spray wax products are also ideal for any of the black plastic trim pieces you may have on your car, which I believe is at a minimum on the Chevy Camaro's.
Good Luck!
