Car Emblem Badge Replacement Porsche Carrera 4S

Welcome to the car emblem badge replacement of this Porsche Carrera 4S. While I mostly do full car emblem removal jobs, occasionally I am called upon to perform car emblem replacement jobs. Some of the stock car emblem and badges can be a bit on the delicate side with sharp corners and intricate lettering and patterns. Such is the case with this Porsche.
Accidents Happen
While it may be hard to tell, the top end of the letter "S" has been broken off. These sometimes delicate car emblems will begin to lift at the edges over time. These lifted edges then become very vulnerable to being caught with a towel or chamois during washing and detailing. This was done at a local car wash by an unsuspecting car wash attendant prior to me taking this car on full time under my detailing maintenance program. Car Emblem Badge Replacement In this shot I have actually already taken the remaining damaged "S" part of the car emblem off and have taped surrounding car emblem letters with painters tape to protect them during sanding and polishing of the underlying area in preparation to receive the new car emblem. My professional opinion would have been to replace the entire car emblem or badge instead if just the damaged "S". This would make for a better end result as working around the existing car emblems is problematic. My customer had jumped the gun a bit and pre-ordered the emblem prior to any conversations on our part. In removing the old car emblem, a certain amount of damage is done to the underlying paint due to the excessive rubbing with adhesive remover. This itself is not necessarily a problem as any damage can be color sanded and polished away; the real problem is working with the buffer in such tight areas such as around existing emblems as was the case on this particular job.In With the New Here we have the new replacement car emblem purchased from the local Porsche dealership. As you can see, it is strictly the stylized "S" of the car emblem logo. Fortunately for myself, the stylized S is such that fitment is exact due to the way it is stylized so tightly around the 4. Replacing car emblems can be very difficult when trying to position them with regards to correct alignment with surrounding character lines and emblems. I have also been called upon to fix misaligned or wrongly positioned emblems done by other shops; as I have always said, car emblem removal is one thing, replacement adds a whole new level of difficulty.Accidents Happen
As you might have noticed, the new "S" is different in color and texture than the old. This is common when replacing existing parts with cars; the new part isn't an exact duplicate to the old part. Many times the manufacturer has been replaced with a new manufacturer of the part and therefore inconsistencies are common place. Darren's RecommendationsIf you are in need of this type of service, I suggest you find someone with experience, whether this is myself or not. As I have stated, I have been called out with my auto detailing business to fix mistakes made by both car dealerships and body shops. If you are attempting to perform the car emblem badge replacement yourself, the list of products over in the right column will help you get optimum results. ”Serving Orange County, California for Over Twenty Years” Home | About | About This Site | Privacy Policy | Contact
